Project LIFE Student Competes in Marine Corps Marathon

Project LIFE Student Competes in Marine Corps Marathon
Special Programs Department

Julian R. is a 19 year old Project LIFE young adult student. Julian recently competed in the Marine Corps Marathon in Arlington, Virginia. Julian completed the 26.2 mile marathon in six hours and 20 minutes. Julian stated, “I had to stay with my dad at his pace or I would have finished much sooner.” To train for the marathon Julian just started running because he liked it.  He has competed in several 5Ks and 10Ks and said before he knew it he was running a full marathon! At the marathon pre-event Julian won cycling gear and plans to begin training for his first Triathlon. He plans to run the marathon next year as well, but at his own pace and not his dads. We are very proud of Julian and this great accomplishment.  Julian is currently working toward a job placement in the automotive industry.

Project LIFE is an Adult Transition Program that prepares adult students to transition to the workforce or volunteer opportunities after high school.
