  • Vision Statement

The vision of the Linda Lyon Elementary School Counseling Program is that every student will acquire the social-emotional, academic, and personal skills that will shape them into empathic, responsible, resilient leaders who will positively contribute to society.

    Mission Statement

The mission of the Linda Lyon Elementary School Counseling Program is to provide each student with a comprehensive and data driven program that addresses academic, college, career, social emotional, and character skills through intentional guidance curriculum, responsive services, and individual planning that are preventative and proactive. Through the building of relationships with all students, in a joyful environment that embraces resiliency and grace, and in collaboration with campus staff, families, and the community, all students will develop the necessary skills they need for future success in all areas of life.

    Comprehensive Counseling Program:

A comprehensive counseling program includes guidance curriculum, responsive services, individual planning, and system support.

Examples of a Comprehensive School Counseling Program at Linda Lyon:

    • #BetterTogether Days
    • Red Ribbon Week
    • Career Week
    • College Week
    • Classroom guidance lessons focusing on the broad topics of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
    • Small group counseling- these groups of students meet for 4-8 weeks to work on a specific goal. They are formed as needed and include a variety of topics from divorce, self-esteem, self-regulation, anxiety, and more!
    • Individual counseling- some students may need more support and the classroom or small group setting does not meet their need. In this case the counselor can work with a student on a targeted goal for approximately 6 weeks.

Students can be recommended for small group counseling or individual counseling by teachers, administration, parents, or through MTSS.
