Mrs. Teresa Lorts

Hello Yellowjacket Family!

I have had a long and exciting journey to get here.  After graduating from the University of Missouri (MIZZOU) with a dual degree in Special Education and Elementary Education, I attended Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, where I earned my Master's Degree in Social Sciences.  I hold six certificates to teach. I have taught third grade and fifth grade, middle and high school special education, middle school social studies, and graduate master's degree courses. I have coached soccer, dance, track, softball, and led student staff members to create middle school yearbooks and newspapers.  I have lived in Missouri most of my life, but after all these years I feel like I am now a TEXAN!

My husband Dan and I have six beautiful grandchildren and two dogs who keep these empty-nesters very busy. We visit family in Missouri and here in Texas quite often. We also like to work in our yard and on our house projects. I also love to travel with the "hubs", especially to places with warm sandy beaches. We love to do volunteer work and try new recipes together. Dan works full time as an engineer.

Our four children are all married to wonderful people. Carrie is a math teacher and has twin girls. Josh is an Army veteran and a union elevator worker with a daughter and a son. Becca is an engineer and has a daughter. Brian is a nurse and has a son.

Working with my students is a lot of fun! Throughout the challenges that we all encounter, we are all in this together. Communication and mutual respect are the daily focus.
