8th Graders visit Holocaust Museum

Utley MS 8^th grade students spent the day at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum this past Thursday. The students have been studying the Holocaust and human rights in their ELA classes for the past 8 weeks. Each student has been reading a self-selected novel about the Holocaust and discussing in literature circles, researching background knowledge of WW II, and using photo analysis of different events/settings of the Holocaust. The students also held Socratic seminars over “Could the Holocaust happen again” and discussed in depth the meaning of up stander vs bystander.
