NJHS Pet Drive

pet drive

The Utley Middle School National Junior Honor Society recently completed its first group community service project to collect items for local pet shelters.

During a meeting, Ms. Anderson, the NJHS sponsor, presented the idea to the students, who began to plan the donation drive. Students were responsible for advertising, collecting, and organizing the items to deliver to the shelter. Collected items included blankets, treats, food, and an assortment of toys. Ms. Anderson will make the donation to the local shelter before Christmas. t

NJHS President, Myla Brizendine, said, "I thought it was a really good thing to do giving back to the community. I love animals, so it was nice to collect things that they need."

"It was fun helping collect from the classroom and seeing what was donated and seeing who was participating and what supplies were going to head to the shelter." Tyler Conklin, NJHS vice president, added.

This is the first community service project in which the whole group participated. Along with organizing the event, many of the NJHS students also donated items for the animal shelters.

"I wanted to Thank everyone who donated to the NJHS Utley Pet Drive! We collected 3 large bags of blankets, dog food, treats, and many pet toys. The shelters are all filling up and these items will help these pets get through the winter season until they can be adopted by a loving family. Go check out these sweet animals and find your fur-ever friend!" said Ms. Anderson.
