Utley Theater Presents Shrek the Musical Jr.

shrekThe Utley Middle School Choir recently presented Shrek the Musical Jr. The production was directed by Ms. McGruire, the Utley theater teacher and Rockwall ISD Secondary Teacher of the year.

"Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek. One day, Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task — if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted. Shrek tries to win Fiona's love and vanquish Lord Farquaad, but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way."

The production included songs such as Big Bright Beautiful World, Forever, This is how a Dream Comes True, I Think I Got You Beat, Make a Move, and Morning Person.

Rhyanna, one of the stage crew members, said, "It was very chaotic but fun! It turned out really good. Mrs. McGuire is a really good theater teacher, so I loved every minute of it!"

It was a fantastic family event that the entire Utley community enjoyed!
