Track and Field Record Breakers!

At the recent track meet, two Utley students broke school records!

Adia Agho competed in discus and threw for 90 feet. The previously held record was 85 feet in 2015. When asked about her new record Adia said, "I felt really excited. I didn't think I'd make it because my first two throws were really bad. Then, on the third throw, everything felt right. I took my time, steadied my breathing, and let it rip."

Savannah McDonald competed in the 400 meter dash and finished with a time of 1:03.65. The previous record was 1:04.24 in 2013. Savannah commented, "I found out I broke the record after I ran. I was shocked and really surprised. I've been running for years and I felt faster this time. I was really trying my best."

Congratulations to these two girls and to the coaches who have worked hard to help train them this season.
