Champions of Change

Utley Middle School students recently participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Student Series campaign (formerly called Pennies for Patients). Students donated change from March 20 through April 7 through their PACK time classes.  Our initial goal was $2017 in order to become a nationally recognized Lifesaver School.  However, the goal was surpassed by so much that we raised over $4000 and earned the next level of distinction, a "Champions for Change" school.  Many individual students raised over $100 and one class, Mrs. Lawhorn's PACK time, raised over $500.  The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society provides health care for patients battling blood cancer, as well as funds research for new medications and treatments.  For more information about the organization, visit LLS.org and see how you can help too!
