3rd Grade Visits the Dallas Arboretum

3rd Grade

The Jones 3rd grade recently visited the Dallas Arboretum for a day of explorations and learning!  The students attended a presentation called “Planetary Voyage” where students sat in the Arboretum’s Globe Theatre.  During the session, students were able to view the five-foot-tall OmniGlobe, which is a large ball that has images projected onto it. During the session, it illuminated to look like the surface of each planet. The images that are projected onto the Omniglobe come from NASA satellites and give students a 360-degree view!  Students also got to hear about what makes each planet special and different from each other.

After the presentation, the students got to explore the arboretum including the Rory Meyers Children’s Adventure Garden. This area focuses on connecting children with nature. Students were able to interact with various science activities and learning opportunities, such as the Pure Energy section. This area shows students examples of natural energy and how it can be harnessed.  It was a fun and definitely educational day!
