The kindergarteners at Jones Elementary recently had an amazing time experiencing the wonder of the holidays during Polar Express Day! The kindergarten teachers, Ms. Pemberton, Ms. Gipson, Ms. Silva, and Ms. Siller set up a day full of hands on learning for the students.
The mood started off right with all of the kindergarteners wearing their pajamas to school that day. Then, children began class by listening to the classic story by Chris Van Allsburg. After listening to the story, the children participated in educational activities that reinforced both reading skills (such as sequencing) and math skills (such as patterns). Students were then able to pretend they were on the Polar Express in the classroom and each received their “golden ticket” to board.
It was a memorable day for the kids and a great way to kick off winter break!
