Earth and Space Night at Jones

science

Jones recently had a science night hosted by the PTA and the Perot Museum.  The theme was “Earth and Space” and students go to participate in 10 different stations that allowed them to experiment with various aspects of space. There were opportunities for students to hold dry ice bubbles to learn about the atmosphere, which was one of the hits of the night. Students also used augmented reality to learn facts about the universe and feel as though they were holding it in their hand. Other stations included designing a telescope that could be packed and deployed, studying the creation of craters, navigating rovers on other planets, modeling the orbits of planets, and experimenting with filtered light. This is the second year in a row that Jones used the Perot Museum to help with their Science Night, and it was definitely a hit!  Students got to have fun and learn relevant information at the same time!
