New Look, Same Learning

TheLewis new social distancing standards haven't slowed learning at Jones!  Teachers have found creative ways to make learning both exciting and challenging for the students. This creativity was on full display this week in PreK and First Grade, where Ms. Jimenez and Ms. Lewis ensured every student's full engagement.

In Prekindergarten, it was time to celebrate and learn about Diez y Seis de Septiembre - Mexican Independence Day.  Students experienced the music while making flags at their desks. In the afternoon, the class headed outside to take turns swinging at a piñata. It was a lesson to remember!

In first grade, Ms. Lewis's class worked on learning "snap" words. These are high-frequency words that students should master learning in a "snap". Instead of working with partners or walking around on a scavenger hunt, students went on a flashlight hunt at their desks. Each had a small flashlight, specially assigned to them. Students watched Ms. Lewis hunt for the words on the wall, called them out, and then hunted for their words on the desk.

We love the enthusiasm and flexibility we see on campus!
