Here Comes the Sun

Masks

January was School Board Appreciation Month and Ms. Mosby, the art teacher at Jones, decided that this year would be the perfect time to turn for the students' artwork to have a practical use while spreading cheer and hope. Ms. Mosby and the sixth-grade students chose the theme "Here Comes the Sun" as their school board art project this year. Ms. Mosby said, "We chose this theme because it was a new year, and we were thinking about the hope that comes with it."

Every sixth-grade art student received a blank mask to work on and painted their interpretation of the masks' theme with acrylic paint. When they'd dried, Ms. Mosby took every one of the final products to the administrators, who decided which ones to send on to the board members. It was a tough decision, but eventually they narrowed it down and sent them along. We love this art project and hope that it will bring joy to the Rockwall ISD Board. A teacher who saw them before Jones Elementary sent them off said, "I love them; they're beautiful and useful. Seeing the kids' art on masks is a reminder of why we do what we do."
