Rockwall ISD Athletic Director Russ Reeves spoke on the hiring of Coach Leah Campbell.

"We are very excited about continuing the success of the Rockwall Lady Jacket Softball program with Coach Campbell. She has been an integral part of the program for the last seven years and her experience and involvement with the program will be a vital competent of continuing that success."

Shadie Acosta is stepping down as Rockwall Lady Jackets Head Softball Coach after 18 seasons. She most recently led the Lady Jackets to the State Tournament for the 1st time in program history in 2020-2021.

"She was just incredible. She has taught me the value of hard work and persistence. She has taught me the value of running efficient and purposeful practices that take our program to the next level. She has taught me so much about the game and what it takes to have a program under your wing. She has just been incredible. It is going to be very different without her around here" says Campbell.

"Not only is Coach Acosta a great coach and a great teacher, but she is a great person as well. She will be missed. Her success speaks for itself and the great thing is Coach Campbell has been a big part of that," says Rockwall ISD Athletic Director Russ Reeves.

The Lady Jackets will return to action in the spring of 2022 with a major hunger to win the 6A UIL State Championship.

"We are returning the majority of our team. Our girls know what it takes now to get to the state championship level. I know we are going to work just as hard and we are even hungrier to get that state championship," says Campbell.
