Pullen Elementary Hosts Visitors from the Leader in Me Symposium

Pullen Elementary recently hosted visitors from the Leader in Me Symposium during their annual Leadership Day.  Leadership Day highlights students' developing leadership skills.  This was the second year Pullen was chosen to be a site visit for teachers and administrators attending the Symposium.

Visitors were greeted by the Pullen band and were welcomed into the building by members of the Student Lighthouse Team.  Symposium participants proceeded to the cafeteria where student leaders led them through an activity designed to teach them about one of the 7 Habits, "Put First Things First."

Fifth grader, Elizabeth Clontz, explained that the guests were given balloons and told to label them with all the things they have to do.  Then they tried to keep the balloons up in the air, which was nearly impossible.  The student activity leaders instructed the guests to prioritize their balloons and just juggle the most important ones which made it possible to keep the balloons up.   This is an activity the attendees will be able to use with their students and faculty.

Student leaders then took guests on a tour of the school.  Guests were invited to visit classrooms and to view the students' leadership notebooks.  Third graders Logan Long and Shea Yudizky were some of the tour leaders.

Shea commented that "It was fun to interact with the visiting teachers and show them the things we do in our school."
