Texas Author Polly Holyoke, Spends Time Encouraging Readers and Writers at Nebbie Williams ES

Polly Holyoke, author of several books, including the Texas Bluebonnet Award-nominated The Neptune Project, spent the day at Nebbie Williams.  Mrs. Holyoke spent the morning giving presentations on dolphins, research and writing to all of the students before having lunch with the Literature Club.

In the afternoon, the fourth-grade students received writing lessons from her.

“The students had such a lovely time,” said Mrs. Katherine Zurbach, library media specialist.  “We were so blessed that our PTA made Mrs. Holyoke’s visit possible.”

Mrs. Holyoke, a resident of Plano, enjoys writing as well as teaching children how to improve their own writing.  Along with school visits, she works with libraries and Girl Scout groups to encourage readers and writers.
