Rockwall HS Speech and Debate Team Hosts Slam Poetry and Rap Contest

The Rockwall High School Speech and Debate Team recently sponsored its annual Slam Poetry and Rap contest, "Project Slam.”

The program began with Junior, Melaquias Perez, as the M.C. for the night.   The audience was entertained by original spoken word and rap pieces prepared and performed by Rockwall High School students.

The night included a special performance from Rockwall High School’s own Economics Teacher, Justin Newberry.

As the judges' deliberated, audience members were encouraged to join in the fun and dance, as the DJ for the night, Senior, Gillian Weaver played a mix.

After careful deliberation, the judges crowned RHS Freshmen, Jada Ayers, as Queen of Slam Poetry and Junior, Isaac Petersen, as King of Rap.
