Stevenson Elementary Students Talk with Astronaut on the International Space Station

A collage of student headshot photos to display who helped on the project.

Students from Stevenson recently learned about space exploration, amateur radio and career possibilities in an experience offered by Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) and Texas A&M University.

Over the past several months, students have learned about astronaut life, the history of the space program and space science.   For the culminating event, students were asked to submit questions to be asked of Scott Tingle on the ISS as it was in close enough range to communicate with the ARISS radio.

Out of the 20 questions asked of Tingle, nine questions were selected from eight Stevenson students.  The students enjoyed hearing their questions answered by an astronaut live on the ISS.

Students pictured are:  Emma Kern(5thgrade), Caitlyn Jones (5th), Trysten Foquette (6th), Jackson Griffith (5th), Eleanor Miller (6th), Abby Clements (5th), Jorge Capella (5th) and Clayton Larman (5th).
