Amy Parks-Heath Elementary Students Embrace the Better Together Mindset

Amy Parks-Heath Elementary fifth grade students, Lily Johnson, Bree Williamson and Katie Grace Neal have truly embraced the Better Together mindset while taking initiative to make an impact and create the anti-bullying club.

They presented their idea to our counselor, Kristin Holder, who has supported them in their efforts to ensure Amy Parks-Heath Elementary is a no-bullying campus.

These students created a character lesson and chose to utilize their recess time to spread the message.  During their lesson, each student is given a heart. The students are asked to fold the heart every time they hear a mean or rude statement throughout the lesson.  Every time they hear a compliment or nice statement they are to unfold the heart.

The message is “Your Words Matter.”

Even though you may apologize for a mean statement there is still a crease on the heart.  The students are then asked to write something they are going to do to stand up against bullying. These students are a true reflection of taking initiative and modeling the “Better Together” mindset.
