Rockwall High School Stingerettes, National Champions

 

The Rockwall HS Stingerettes Drill Team recently competed at American Dance and Drill’s Nationals competition at the University of North Texas where they won multiple National Champion awards.  

 

Each group swept the competition.

 

Team Awards:

Best Team Sportsmanship

Most Outstanding Team - Tote Unlimited Award

National Champion Team Lyrical

National Champion Team Pom

National Champion Team Novelty

National Champion Team Jazz

 

Elite/Show Stopper Awards:

National Champion Elite Jazz

National Champion Elite Conteimporary

National Champion Elite Open

1st Runner up Elite Hip Hop

 

Officers:

National Champion Officer Jazz

National Champion Officer Open

National Champion Officer Lyrical

National Champion Officer Contemporary

 

The Stingerettes won the Best of the Best, which is where all of the teams, officers, and elite groups scores are added together. The top scoring team is announced across all dance genres. Rockwall HS dancers swept every category.

The JV team, Jacket Babes also won National Champion on their small ensemble performance.  Captain Jessi Schmitt won first place for her solo.  Julia Blevins, and Kendall Bayes were solo finalists.  First Lieutenant Ashlynn White was a finalist in the kick competition.  

 

In the elite category, Rockwall HS had the top four highest scoring routines of the competition with the Elite Open, Elite Contemporary, Elite Jazz and Elite Hip hop routines.  

 

They also won three WOW awards for performances.
