Last school year, Pullen Elementary student, Charlotte Fieldsmith, made a presentation to Dr. Tom Maglisceau, Chief Student Services Officer, as part of her SAGE project in which she recommended that Rockwall ISD create a week during the school year to celebrate district crossing guards.
As she noted in her presentation, several campuses already recognize these terrific individuals through the year for their support of students, but Charlotte hoped to have one time during the year to specifically celebrate crossing guards as we do for teachers, counselors and even our school board members.
Thanks to Charlotte, Rockwall ISD will now be celebrating Crossing Guard Week every year. This year’s Crossing Guard week is February 18-21.
