Over the summer, the 2020-2021 FCCLA Fashion Design competition team, which consisted of five National qualifiers attended the virtual FCCLA National Leadership Conference which was held in Nashville, TN in July.
They all placed in the top 10 in the nation in two categories, which was Fashion Design and Fashion Construction. The five national champions are Sadie Lankford, Alissa Dearing, Kiryn Armstrong, Sydney Hunt and Madison Glenn.
“This group of students is one of the most exceptional and talented competition teams that we have ever known,” said Mrs. Renee’ Aube, the FCCLA Fashion Design teacher/adviser at the Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy. “They work hard all year long during our competition season and their results are outstanding this year!”
All of the students received a “gold” medal which means that all students averaged a score of 91 and above.
“Never in the history of our chapter have we been honored to have five National qualifiers, much less all five of them placed in the top 10 contestants in the nation in two different categories,” said Aube.
Competition scores are as follows:
- Sadie Lankford, RHS, Fashion Design Level 2, #2 in the nation. Gold award.
- Alissa Dearing, RHS, Fashion Construction Level 3, #9 in the nation. Gold award.
- Kiryn Armstrong, RHHS, Fashion Design Level 3, #3 in the nation. Gold award.
- Sydney Hunt, RHHS, Fashion Design Level 3, #4 in the nation. Gold award.
- Madison Glenn, RHHS, Fashion Design Level 2, #1 in the nation. Gold award.
