Rockwall ISD Holds Dedication Ceremony for the Field at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium

Rockwall ISD recently held a Public Dedication Ceremony for the field at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium Friday, September 3 during halftime of the Jesuit HS vs. Rockwall HS football game.

In April of this year, the Board of Trustees officially named the football field at Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium the Cameron-Webb Field in honor of two longtime Rockwall High School Coaches, Dan Webb and the late James Cameron.

Coach James Cameron’s distinguished career in education spanned 26 years as a collegiate and high school football coach, six of those years in Rockwall ISD. He served as the head football coach of the Rockwall HS football team from 1976 to 1982. The team won three district championships and twice district runner-up. During his last year, the YellowJackets lost in the state semifinals to a Brownwood team that would eventually win the state championship.

Coach Dan Webb’s distinguished career in education spanned 19 years in the Rockwall ISD. He served as a teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal of Rockwall HS. Coach Webb made an indelible impression on the lives of countless Rockwall County students. He coached under James Cameron and the two enjoyed much football success at the varsity and junior varsity level. To this day, Coach Webb’s former students refer to him as Big Daddy and his wife, Cynthia, as Big Mama for the values they instilled like hard work, dedication, teamwork, community service, and strong character.
