Rockwall ISD Releases Video Explaining School Finance Basics

Rockwall ISD has recently prepared and released a video, School Finance 101, that explains the Texas Education Agency‘s state funding system for all Texas public schools. 

“Rockwall ISD takes our fiscal responsibility to our taxpayers very seriously,” said Chief Financial Officer and video narrator David Carter. “Our goal is to provide you with a quick and informative School Finance 101 video to let you know how tax money funds our schools for our students.”

The Texas Education Agency is responsible for administering and determining the funding due to public school districts, including Rockwall ISD, in alignment with the approved and required Texas Education Code.

Based upon the state’s school finance system, did you know that local taxpayers today fund 78% of our budget, while the state’s contribution continues to decrease to approximately 22%?
