Eighth grade Utley Middle School student and 2023 Rockwall County Spelling Bee champion Phoebe I. is no stranger to competition. Phoebe is a returning champion — she earned first place in the Rockwall County Spelling Bee last year and has won her campus spelling every year since the fourth grade.
Phoebe will move on to participate in the Dallas Regional Spelling Bee in March.
Campus spelling bee winners from each elementary and middle school campus participated in the Rockwall County Spelling Bee. Students tested online through the Scripps National Spelling Bee platform and were asked to spell 25 words and identify the definitions of 25 words.
Sixth grade Sharon Shannon Elementary student Pearl D. is the Rockwall County Spelling Bee runner-up and will serve as an alternate.
