Rockwall ISD Education Foundation Gives More Than $37K in Grants to Teachers and Staff
More than $37,000 in innovative teaching grants was awarded to teachers for the 2023-2024 school year thanks to the Rockwall ISD Education Foundation (REF). This year, the REF was able to award $15,000 more than last year’s total thanks to generous donations.
Awarding the Innovative Teaching Grants is the culmination of the REF’s year-round efforts with community supporters and business partners,” REF Executive Director Asheli Neill said. “We’re bringing educators’ ideas to life and providing what’s otherwise not possible for RISD students. It’s an incredibly magical experience, both personally and professionally.”
Each year, the REF invites teachers to submit a grant application for an innovative project that engages students and teachers in creative and challenging ways. A total of 17 projects from 63 educators were funded that will benefit more than 11,900 students.
REF board members, district board members, Superintendent Dr. John Villarreal, Chamber of Commerce Leadership Rockwall Class of 2024, and other community supporters surprised each group of recipients at their campus.
