Garcia Elementary Teacher Organizes Toy Drive For Children's Hospital

Mrs. Fergeson
Garcia Elementary first grade teacher Kristie Fergeson organized a Gator Toy Drive to support the Children's Medical Center in Dallas. Mrs. Fergeson's daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease when she was 11 years old and spent a lot of time at Children's as an inpatient. Mrs. Fergeson remembers her daughter playing with the toys from the hospital to help pass the time and lift her spirits.

To give back and help other patients and families, Mrs. Fergeson started a toy drive several years ago. All donations are taken to the child-life department at Children's. In true Gator spirit, the Toy Drive was a House Competition to see which house could donate the most unwrapped toys. Congratulations to Amistad, the red house, for winning!
