For its exemplary record of leadership, service and activities that improve the school and community, the Rockwall High School Student Council has been recognized as a 2025 National Gold Council of Excellence by the National Association of Student Councils (NASC) and Sweepstakes Council by the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC). This is the fourth year in a row for both awards.

Twenty Business Professionals of America (BPA) members from the Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy (GBCCA) have advanced to compete at the 2025 BPA National Leadership Conference (NLC), taking place May 7–11 in Orlando, Florida.

The Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees has officially named the district’s fourth middle school Ursula Rakow Middle School. The new campus, part of the 2021 bond program, is scheduled to open its doors to students in grades 6 through 8 in August 2025.

The Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Interior Design and Architecture competition team recently traveled to Waco, Texas, to attend the regional competition.
