Poetry Month in the Library

The Springer Elementary Library recently observed National Poetry Month with fun activities. Librarian Mrs. Cutting had fifth grade classes participate in a Poetry Tasting. Using TeachingBooks, one of the district's databases, students discovered information about poets and their poems. It was a fun way to learn and appreciate poetry while utilizing technology.
Third-grade classes also learned about poetry in the form of Haiku. After reading a story told entirely in Haikus, Mrs. Cutting challenged each student to craft their own Haiku. Through this engaging activity, the students not only honed their writing skills but also discovered the beauty and simplicity of this traditional Japanese art form.
