Orienteering at Utley

The Utley Outdoor Education students recently learned about orienteering, the sport of navigating through terrain using a map and compass.

The students began by learning how to use a compass to determine their direction of travel. They then practiced using their compasses to navigate between different points on a map. They navigated between the different points on their routes, and along the way, they had to use their problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles and challenges.

Once the students had a basic understanding of how to use a compass, they created their own compass routes. The routes were designed to take the students through a variety of different locations around Utley.
