Rockwall ISD Announces 2024 District Teachers of the Year

Rockwall ISD is proud to announce the 2024 Elementary and Secondary District Teachers of the Year Ashley Hartwell from Howard Dobbs Elementary and Allison Huck from Herman E. Utley Middle School.

Ashley Hartwell from DobbsMrs. Hartwell teaches sixth grade math at Dobbs Elementary and has been teaching for 11 years. Ten of those years have been with Rockwall ISD.

“Whether inspiring students to succeed or leading colleagues in new learning and teaching strategies, she sets a high bar for others to follow,” said Principal Luz Biehle. “She is a difference maker.”

Allison Huck from Utley

Mrs. Huck is an eighth grade math teacher at Utley Middle School and has been teachingfor nine years. Six of those years have been with Rockwall ISD.

“[Mrs. Huck] possesses a remarkable ability to inspire students,” said Principal Kristin Marceau. “Her classroom is a place where every student feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential.”

Each year, the district participates in the Teacher of the Year program from the Texas Association of School Administrators. This program begins at the district level with the opportunity to honor one educator from each Rockwall ISD campus for his or her ability to inspire students in innovative and creative ways. A selection committee made up of district administrators, former teachers of the year and community members then chooses the two winners.

The district teachers of the year will move on to represent Rockwall ISD at the Region 10 competition.
