Lyon and Cain Teachers Named 2024 Beginning Teachers of the Year

Congratulations to Linda Lyon Elementary teacher Sierra Merlino and Cain Middle School teacher Sarah Clifton for being named Beginning Teachers of the Year!

The Sheri Stodghill Fowler Beginning Teacher of the Year Award honors outstanding first-year teachers in the BEST Program, which stands for "Beginning Educators, Successful Teachers." An outstanding teacher is someone who connects to their students and creates the best possible learning experiences every day for their students.

Katie Braden, Director of Assessment, Accountability and Professional Learning, said the BEST Program guides the journey of all our new teachers, focusing on the development of their skills as educators.

“This award acknowledges their commitment to growth and excellence in their daily work,” said Mrs. Braden. “We are privileged to honor two exceptional new teachers, who embody the spirit of continuous improvement, leading directly to student success in their classrooms.”
