• COUNSELOR CORNER INFORMATION

Welcome to The Counselor's Corner at Amanda Rochell Elementary!

The counselor program in Rockwall ISD is a comprehensive program based on the developmental needs of all students academically, personally, and socially. My job as counselor includes a variety of responsibilities. Here are just a few:

Classroom Guidance: I schedule visits to classrooms at all grade levels throughout the year. My lessons cover topics such as Character Traits, Study Skills, Making Friends, Conflict Resolution/Anti-Bullying, and Problem Solving/Decision Making, just to name a few. Our Ranger Focus work of the month is discussed with lessons as well. I encourage students to talk to their parents about our lessons, so feel free to ask them as well.

Small Group/Individual Counseling: Small groups will be sest up during the year to focus on specific topics such  Divorce, Grief Support, and Anger Management. These are also areas where I may work with individual students, as needed, on a short-term basis. (Parent permission will be requested for small groups over topics.)

MTSS(Behavior, SEL) Facilitator: MTSS meetings serve to ensure that every student is learning and being served in the best possible way. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Testing Coordinator: It is my job to coordinate all the standardized and state testing done on our campus.  This includes STAAR, CogAT, MAP, and TELPAS. We take our testing very seriously and can always use your support in encouraging your student(s) to take it seriously, also.

It is an honor and pleasure to serve as your child's school counselor. I am here to help.
