Business Professionals of America (BPA) 2024 State Competition (SLC)
Twenty-four Business Professionals of America (BPA) members, Rockwall Independent School District (RISD) high school (HS) students representing the Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy (GBCCA), competed among 5400 students in over 100 school BPA Chapters in the 2024 Texas State Leadership Conference (SLC), held Wednesday, February 28 through Saturday, March 2, in downtown Corpus Christi, Texas. Overall, 16 of 24 students are National Qualifiers (NQ), invited to compete in their respective events at the National Leadership Conference (NLC) in Chicago, Illinois, May 10-14, 2024.

OPEN EVENT RESULTS
Seventeen GBCCA students competed in an Open Event, which is an optional individual, competitive written exam covering a wide variety of business specialties. Their places ranged from 18 to 99, in 6 different Open Events, out of over 1400 competitors.
VIRTUAL EVENT RESULTS
Three teams and one individual GBCCA student made Top 10 FINALISTS in their Virtual Events and are also invited to compete for Best in Show at the National Showcase in Chicago, Illinois.
