Rockwall ISD Board Approves Site Selection

North Site Section

South Site Section

On November 15, 2021, the District’s leadership team presented the Board of Trustees a recommendation to approve the site selections for the construction of the future Rockwall High School and Rockwall-Heath High School Ninth Grade Campuses.  The District currently owns two appropriate-sized high school sites, one of which is approximately 77 +/- acres located on the northwest corner of FM 1141 and E. Quail Run Road that would serve as the north site to provide enrollment relief for Rockwall High School.  The second site which is comprised of approximately 120 +/- acres located on the Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy property that would serve as the south site to provide enrollment relief for Rockwall-Heath High School.

Of the many factors considered in determining the best site locations for these future Ninth Grade Campuses included the intent to design both of these Ninth Grade Campuses as a master plan with multiple phases with a final build out to be able to accommodate a full comprehensive high school at some point in the future when enrollment growth dictates.  Other factors included, but were not limited to, geographical locations and proximity to existing high schools, logistics and infrastructure to sites, topography, proximity to ‘feeder-pattern’ middle schools, etc.
