Rockwall ISD Board Approves Schematic Design





On October 18, 2022, the District’s architectural consulting firm Corgan Architects presented the Board of Trustees the Schematic Design of the future.

Rockwall ISD Middle School #4.  Generally speaking, the schematic design is the first phase of basic services for project design.  At this stage in the a project, the design professional typically describes the project three-dimensionally.  A range of alternative design concepts are explored to define the character of the completed project and an optimum realization of the project program.

Over the coming months, Corgan Architects will continue to work with District leadership and stakeholders to refine the schematic design into construction documents that can be sent out to bid in Fall 2023.  The District currently anticipates being able to break ground on the new Rockwall ISD Middle School #4 in late Fall 2023 with an anticipated expected opening date of August 2025.

The new Rockwall ISD Middle School #4 will be constructed to provide relief to Maurine Cain Middle school, the District’s largest middle school campus.  At the time of opening, the District plans to realign the grade configuration for elementary and middle schools to be PK-5th at the elementary level and 6th, 7th, and 8th at the middle school level.

The new Rockwall ISD Middle School #4 is begin designed on a 50 acre master planned site that one day could also have a future elementary school site constructed.  The District is taking into account the master planned concept while designing the current new Rockwall ISD Middle School #4.
