Rockwall ISD Board Approves Schematic Design

On October 18, 2022, the District’s architectural consulting firm Corgan Architects presented the Board of Trustees the Schematic Design of the 

Future Amanda Rochell Elementary School.  Generally speaking, the schematic design is the first phase of basic services for project design.  At this stage in the a project, the design professional typically describes the project three-dimensionally.  A range of alternative design concepts are explored to define the character of the completed project and an optimum realization of the project program.

Over the coming months, Corgan Architects will continue to work with District leadership and stakeholders to refine the schematic design into construction documents that can be sent out to bid in Spring 2023.  The District currently anticipates being able to break ground on the new Amanda Rochell Elementary School in late Spring 2023 with an anticipated expected opening date of August 2024.

The new Amanda Rochell Elementary School will be constructed at the same location of the existing campus on the west side of the property.  Students will continue to attend the current campus during the construction phase of the new campus.  The District will work with its construction management company to ensure that the construction site it safe and secured from the current campus during construction.  Once construction of the new campus is complete, students and staff will be moved into the new building and the District’s construction management team will begin work on demolishing and re-purposing the current building.  The entire project is estimated to be completed in late Fall 2024.
