Rockwall ISD Announces 2022 District Teachers of the Year
Amy Parks-Heath ES and Utley MS teachers take top honors
Rockwall ISD is proud to announce the 2022 Elementary and Secondary Teachers of the Year: Abby Swanson of Amy Parks-Heath Elementary, and Virginia McGuire of Utley Middle.
“Mrs. Swanson engages all of her students, creatively takes advantage of every learning minute, and pushes each student to meet their full potential,” said Lindy Lewis, principal of Amy Parks-Heath ES. “Mrs. Swanson is a product of Rockwall ISD and was excited to begin her career in her home district.”
"Mrs. McGuire moves mountains and her work ethic is second to none,” said Dane Steinberger, principal of Utley MS. “She creates the most positive atmosphere while holding the best of expectations.”

Each year, the district participates in the Teacher of the Year program by the Texas Association of School Administrators. This program begins at the district level with the opportunity to honor one educator from each Rockwall ISD campus for his or her ability to inspire students in innovative and creative ways. A selection committee made up of district administrators, former teachers of the year and community members then chooses the two winners.
