Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officers’ Program Coming to Rockwall ISD for 2024-2025 School Year

Board of Trustees and Superintendent with JROTC repsAfter years of dedicated effort, Rockwall ISD has achieved a significant milestone: establishing a Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) program. Despite Texas already meeting the number of approved programs, the Assistant Secretary of the Navy approved Rockwall ISD’s ongoing request. This program is a testament to our commitment to providing exceptional opportunities for our students.

Rockwall ISD Board of Trustees President Amy Hilton said she looks forward to seeing future JRTOC students involved in the community representing the program.

“Marine [Corps] JRTOC is going to present an opportunity for character and leadership development for our students,” Hilton said. “I think the program is going to be a fantastic addition to the community.”

Major Cody Stewart, Regional Director, delivered the exciting news and introduced the JROTC instructors soon to lead our students. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with over 150 high school students signing up for the program during registration. The Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy will offer the program starting in the 2024-2025 school year. This program heralds a new opportunity for student success.
